Permits for Sale of Alcohol

General Information

On May 10, 2014 the citizens in the City of Aledo voted to approve Proposition 1; the legal sale of mixed beverages in restaurants by food and beverage certificate holders only, and Proposition 2; the legal sale of beer and wine for off-premise consumption only. The Local Option Election results were canvassed and certified on May 21, 2014 by the Aledo City Council. Proposition 1 and Proposition 2 are only effective within the corporate limits of the City of Aledo.

On April 23, 2009, the City Council of the City of Aledo voted to adopt Ordinance number B-2009-02 establishing distance requirements of 300 feet from public or private schools, churches and public hospitals, and establishing permit requirements for a City alcohol permit.  

The measurement of the distance between the place of business where alcoholic beverages are sold and the church or public hospital shall be:

  • Along the property lines of the street fronts and from front door to front door, and in a direct line across intersections.

The measurement of the distance between the place of business where alcoholic beverages are sold and the public or private school shall be:

  • In a direct line from the property line of the public or private school to the property line of the place of business and in a direct line across intersections.

The production, distribution and sale of alcohol within the State of Texas is regulated by the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) and the TABC receives their statutory authority to do so from the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Code. You can learn more by visiting their website
