Understanding the City Budget
The annual budget serves as the City of Aledo’s financial roadmap for each fiscal year, guiding how public funds are allocated to provide services, maintain infrastructure and invest in the community.
Budget development begins months before the start of the fiscal year on October 1. City staff prepares a proposed budget based on community needs, service priorities and financial planning. The City Manager presents the recommended budget to City Council for review during public meetings and work sessions.
Residents have the opportunity to participate in the process by providing input during public hearings before City Council adopts the annual budget and property tax rate.
