Our History
The Aledo Police Department was officially established in August 2025, marking a historic milestone in the City's continued growth and commitment to public safety. For many years, law enforcement services for the City of Aledo were provided through a partnership with the Parker County Sheriff's Office. As the community grew, City leaders recognized the need for a dedicated municipal police department focused exclusively on serving Aledo.
In January 2025, the City appointed Carol L. Riddle as its first Director of Public Safety to lead the creation of the department from the ground up. Drawing on more than 25 years of law enforcement leadership experience, Chief Riddle oversaw the development of the department's policies, procedures, training standards and organizational foundation. She was officially sworn in as Aledo's first Chief of Police on August 6, 2025, during a community ceremony celebrating the launch of the department.
Today, the Aledo Police Department is dedicated to providing professional, community-focused policing built on integrity, transparency and trust. As one of the City's newest departments, it continues to grow alongside the community while remaining committed to protecting the people, neighborhoods and businesses that make Aledo a special place to call home.
