Your Voice in Aledo’s Future

City elections provide residents with the opportunity to choose the leaders who represent the community and help shape Aledo’s future.

The Aledo City Council consists of a Mayor and five Council Members representing Places 1 through 5. All positions are elected at-large by voters within the City of Aledo and serve three-year terms.

The City of Aledo conducts regular elections on the May Uniform Election Date established by the State of Texas.

May 2027
Regular Election for Place 4 and Place 5

May 2028
Regular Election for Mayor and Place 2

Qualifications for Mayor and City Council

Candidates for Mayor or City Council must meet the requirements established by the Texas Election Code and the Aledo City Charter.

Qualifications include:

  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Must be a registered voter in the State of Texas
  • Must have resided within the City of Aledo for at least one year before the election
  • Must meet all applicable requirements under state law and the City Charter
  • Must not have been convicted of a felony criminal offense or a crime involving moral turpitude
  • Must not be in violation of any other provision of the City Charter
