The Planning & Zoning Commission plays an important role in shaping Aledo’s future by reviewing development requests and making recommendations to City Council on land use, zoning and development matters.

The Commission helps ensure new development aligns with the City’s plans while supporting a community that continues to grow responsibly.

About the Commission

The Planning & Zoning Commission is a five-member board with two alternates, made up of Aledo residents appointed by City Council. Members serve two-year staggered terms.

The Commission reviews and makes recommendations on matters including:

  • Rezoning Requests – Requests to change the zoning designation of a property.
  • Specific Use Permits – Requests for certain uses that require additional approval within a zoning district.
  • Zoning Ordinance Amendments – Updates to local development regulations.
  • Subdivision Requests – Proposals to divide property into multiple lots.
  • Site Plans – Reviews to ensure proposed development meets City requirements.
  • Water and Sewer Impact Fees – Serving as the Capital Improvement Advisory Committee for impact fee matters.

The Commission may also conduct special studies and reviews as directed by City Council.

The Planning & Zoning Commission meets on the second Thursday of each month at 6:00 p.m. at the Aledo Community Center.
