Reviewing Variance Requests and Administrative Appeals
The Zoning Board of Adjustment (ZBOA) is a five-member board appointed by the Aledo City Council that considers requests for relief from the City's zoning regulations and hears appeals of administrative decisions related to the zoning ordinance.
The ZBOA helps ensure zoning regulations are applied fairly by reviewing requests based on the standards established by state law and the City's zoning ordinance.
Responsibilities
The ZBOA is responsible for:
- Variance Requests – Considering requests to deviate from specific requirements of the City's zoning ordinance when allowed by law.
- Appeals of Administrative Decisions – Hearing appeals of decisions or interpretations made by the Zoning Administrator regarding the application of the zoning ordinance.
Meetings
The Zoning Board of Adjustment meets on an as-needed basis at 6 p.m. in the Aledo Municipal Complex.
Board members serve staggered five-year terms and must be residents of the City of Aledo.
