The City Secretary’s Office helps ensure Aledo’s government operates openly, accurately and efficiently. From maintaining official records and supporting City Council processes to administering elections and helping residents access public information, the City Secretary plays an important role in preserving the history and transparency of local government.

What the City Secretary’s Office Does

The City Secretary’s Office is responsible for:

  • Preparing and preserving records of City Council meetings, including agendas, minutes and official actions
  • Maintaining the City’s legislative history, ordinances, resolutions and official documents
  • Managing the City’s records management program to ensure records are properly maintained, secured, retained and preserved
  • Administering City elections and ensuring compliance with applicable election laws
  • Processing public information requests and helping residents access government records
  • Coordinating appointments for City boards and commissions
  • Attesting contracts, maintaining official records and performing other duties required by law and City leadership
The City Secretary also serves as the filing authority for campaign finance reports and financial disclosure statements and helps ensure compliance with requirements such as the Texas Open Meetings Act and Public Information Act.
