Know What to Expect Before Your Appearance

Municipal Court hearings are held in a formal courtroom setting and are open to the public. Cases are heard in the Council Chambers at the Aledo Municipal Complex unless otherwise directed.

Before You Arrive

Plan to arrive early to allow time for parking, check-in and any court procedures before your case is called.

To help maintain an appropriate courtroom environment:

  • Dress in appropriate courtroom attire.
  • Remove hats, caps and other head coverings unless worn for religious or medical reasons.
  • Wear clothing that is clean, respectful and appropriate for a courtroom setting.
  • Avoid clothing with offensive language, images or messages.
  • Silence all mobile devices before entering the courtroom.

If you are unable to attend your scheduled court date, contact the Municipal Court as soon as possible before your appearance date. Failure to appear may result in additional court action, including the issuance of a warrant.

How Court Works

When your case is called, you will approach the Court and respond to your citation before the Judge.

The Judge will review your case and any available options under the law. You may be asked questions related to your citation before the Court determines next steps.

All proceedings are conducted in accordance with Texas law and are open to the public.

What to Expect

If your case is resolved during your appearance, the Judge will provide instructions regarding any fine, court costs or additional requirements.

If your case is not resolved, it may be reset for a future court date or proceed to trial, depending on your plea and the circumstances of your case.

Right to Appear

You may appear on your own behalf or be represented by an attorney.

If your case proceeds to trial, the City must prove the charge in accordance with Texas law.
