Bailey Ranch Project

Council moves forward on improvements to Bailey Ranch Road, project to start in February

Acting to get critical things done, the Aledo City Council has solicited bids on the rebuild project for Bailey Ranch Road, anticipating a start to the 10-month project in February of 2023.

In a video update, Mayor Nick Stanley said that plans to improve and rebuild portions of the vital roadway “won’t be entirely painless” given the road’s poor condition but that the project would mean a better experience for drivers and pedestrians that will benefit Aledo for years to come.

The Mayor said the project is part of the Aledo City Council’s primary focus on planning for and undertaking critical improvements to Aledo’s infrastructure. Since Bailey Ranch Road was not constructed properly, much of the road is now experiencing pavement failures, which is why it has been a priority of the City to address this sooner rather than later.

While road panels on the western end of the road have been replaced, the eastern portion of Bailey Ranch Road will need a full rebuild to last for decades to come. Mayor Stanley explained that the work will be done in four phases beginning in February and wrapping up by late 2023.

  • Phase 1 (Three to Four Days): Complete shutdown west of Creekview Terrance for utility work. This will be done mostly over a weekend to minimize disruptions. Phase 1 will be the ONE AND ONLY full shutdown.
  • Phase 2 (Six Months): One-way traffic eastbound only while crews rebuild the northern half of the road with enough surface to accommodate two-way traffic later. The eastbound flow will allow first responders quick access to FM1187.
  • Phase 3 (Two Months): Rebuilding the southern portion with two-way traffic on the northern half, making it easier on schools, neighborhoods and businesses.
  • Phase 4 (Two Months): Rebuilding a quarter of the intersection at a time at Champions Drive.
