IMPORTANT BUILDING CODE UPDATE

Adoption of the 2021 International Codes and the 2020 National Electrical Code

City of Aledo City Council approved the adoption of the 2021 International Building Codes and the 2020 National Electrical Code at the council meeting held on May 23, 2024. City councilmembers elected to push the effective date to 2025.

The effective date of the following codes is January 1, 2025.

  • International Residential Code
  • International Plumbing Code
  • International Fire Code
  • International Mechanical Code
  • International Building Code
  • International Energy Conservation Code
  • International Property Maintenance Code
  • International Existing Building Code
  • International Fuel Gas Code
  • International Swimming Pool and Spa Code
  • National Electrical Code

The codes adopted by the City of Aledo include local and North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) amendments.

Plan approval and construction to new code editions

All plans submitted on or after January 1, 2025, must comply with the new code editions and be constructed in accordance with the new code editions.
