General Election Information

The Aledo City Council consists of a Mayor and five Council Members, representing Places 1 through 5.  All positions are elected at-large for three-year terms by voters residing in the City limits.

The City of Aledo holds all regular elections on the May Uniform Election date as determined by the State of Texas.

Future Elections

March 31, 2026 - Special Election to Fill a Vacancy - Place 4 (unexpired term)

May 2, 2026 - Place 1 and Place 3

May 2027 - Place 4 and Place 5

May 2028 - Mayor and Place 2


Qualifications for Mayor and Council Members

City of Aledo Charter, Article III, Section 3.03 Qualifications

Each of the six Council members, at the time of filing of their application for a place upon the ballot, shall meet all qualification requirements of the Texas Election Code;

  • shall be 21 years old; shall be a registered voter in the State of Texas;
  • shall be a resident of the City and shall have resided within the corporate limits of the City for least one year preceding the date of the election at which they are a candidate;
  • shall not have been convicted of a felony criminal offense or a crime involving moral turpitude; and
  • shall not be in violation of any other provision in this Charter.
